Tah Takuchi Nurturing Care and Learning Program is designed to support the holistic development of children from birth to eight years of age. It aims to lay the strong developmental foundations, foster a love for lifelong learning, and support the overall wellbeing of every child. This program grounded in scientific research and aligned with national and international early childhood development (ECD) standards and best practices. The Tah Takuchi ECD focuses on creating a safe, secure, engaging, and developmentally appropriate lifelong learning environment where children can thrive. The program is divided into key stages:
- Prenatal to Infancy (0–2 years): This stage emphasizes response caregiving, sensory stimulation, and early bonding. Infants are cared for in calm, nurturing environments that promote brain development through interactive play, music, movement, and emotional support. Exposure to relevant themes of numeracy, literacy and language development.
- Early Childhood (3–6 years): This stage prepares children for lifelong learning and school readiness. A play-based and inquiry-driven approach is used to develop foundational skills in language, numeracy, problem-solving, social interaction, and emotional regulation. The curriculum incorporates structured and free play, storytelling, art, STEM activities, and outdoor exploration.
- School Readiness (5–6+ years): This stage supports children as they prepare to enter formal primary education, ensuring a smooth and confident transition. The focus is on strengthening school-readiness skills such as pre-literacy and pre-numeracy, early writing, critical thinking, self-regulation, and independence. Children engage in more structured routines, collaborative learning, and age-appropriate assessments that foster confidence and adaptability. Emphasis is also placed on emotional resilience, communication skills, and social responsibility to equip children with the tools they need to succeed in formal school settings and beyond.
- Learning Themes: Each learning area is set up for the exploration and learning of children. Children have many opportunities to make choices, experiment, and interact with others. With a positive learning environment, each child gets various opportunities to reach the four categories of Tah Takuchi Child Development Milestones.
- All the learning areas are attractive, cheerful, orderly, and fill with interesting learning & caring material where children feel safe, explore and learn.
- Materials are on low shelves with easy access to each child, in containers and on hooks so children can get them independently and put them away.
- Shelves are neat and uncluttered so materials are easy to see, remove and replace.
- Picture and word labels are on containers and shelves so children know where materials belong and learn to use print.
- There are distinct interest areas, blocks, dramatic play, toys and games, art, discovery, library, sand and water, music and movement, laptops, and different outdoor play spaces so children know what choices are available and can make decisions.
- Similar materials are grouped together to teach children to sort and classify.
